AAS, Aviation Technology (Helicopter):

This program provides graduate helicopter pilots with the necessary skills and Federal Aviation Administration flight certificates to gain employment as a professional in the rotorcraft industry.

This aviation degree program through Yavapai College is VA Chapter 33 benefits approved for eligible U.S. Military Veterans using their Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits.

Student pilots will progress through the following certificated programs and ratings:

  • Instrument pilot
  • Commercial pilot
  • Certificated flight instructor – CFI
  • Certificated flight instructor, instruments – CFI-I

Electives in the helicopter flight training program include:

  • Advanced turbine transition training

Program Outcomes

Upon successful completion of our program, you’ll be able to safely:

  • Meet FAA requirements as a commercial helicopter pilot
  • Fly a helicopter under normal conditions and at night
  • Fly a helicopter under emergency conditions
  • Fly a helicopter in clouds and in poor weather conditions
  • Meet FAA requirements as a helicopter flight instructor
