Winners of X-Copter’s Closest to the Pin Autorotation Challenge

The competitors at the Closest to the Pin Challenge presented by X-Copter were not messing around. An assortment of beginner, novice and experienced aviators showed up at Guidance Aviation’s student services office to see who would reign supreme and prove themselves to be a master of autorotation.

Each participant was allowed to practice in X-Copter’s simulator before making two measured landings in a specified area. Whoever managed to land closest to the center of the area would be win. Here’s how it shook out:

Evan Burgess, an instructor at UHI and an Embry-Riddle student, finished in 3rd Place and received a $25 Visa gift card.

Eric Henderson from airport operations at KPRC finished in 2nd Place and received a $50 Visa gift card.

And finishing in 1st Place, Tim Sestak, a professor at Embry-Riddle received a SPOT Gen3 and, of course, bragging rights.

All participants received a “Heli-Yeah: I flew the X-Copter” t-shirt as well.

This was the first of a competition that will be held every semester.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all who participated.
